Knitting, calm and routine

As the days get shorter and the cold creeps in, knitting becomes a peaceful retreat – a moment of warmth, peace and quiet. There's something about autumn and winter that calls for a slower pace and a good routine.
The cold air, the darkness, and the silence, especially that which accompanies the first snow – it's as if everything slows down, becomes softer, and the presence somehow deepens. Perhaps that's precisely why knitting attracts us at this time of year.

For me, knitting is almost like meditation.
The warmth, focus and quiet help me to calm my mind in the daily grind and when the pieces come off the needles – there is always that good feeling. There is something about creating something beautiful, whether it is for others or for myself.

The remarkable thing is that even after a short time of knitting, I can feel my mind calm down – and my body follows suit. Knitting reminds me that sometimes all you need to do is sit, breathe, and focus on what you're doing.

The choice of raw materials is also a big part of the joy for me. Choosing a good yarn with the right properties can make a big difference. I personally avoid yarns with a lot of synthetics – I don't find them breathable enough and they quickly become uncomfortable to wear, especially when I'm chasing two children around. I prefer natural materials that are warm, durable and age beautifully - that's exactly what you'll find high-quality yarn here at Garnikó.

It doesn't take much time a day, just a little while, a cup of coffee and a few rounds.
Sometimes I only get that short moment, sometimes I get to sit for hours – both are equally valuable and important parts of the day.

Whether you knit ten rounds or ten centimeters today – let it be your moment.
The warmth you feel in knitting, you also feel in yourself.
